Biography:
Munich based DJ Y alias JY is a french versatile DJ /Mashup Producer. Coming from a rich musical background, he grew up in France, and learned to play the piano for twelve years. He also was part of a Gregorian Schola, a choir which specialises in Gregorian chant, singing in several cathedrals in Europe.
After moving to Germany in 1991 and starting dj-ing at students parties in Landshut, he survived the huge techno and dance wave of the 90s and got in touch with several music styles. Then, after living a year in Wuppertal, he was resident-Dj in the famous Café am Markt in Kaiserslautern. Munich called him for a new job opportunity, so he moved to Bavaria where he organised monthly the huge french music party in Munich called “French Kiss” from 1996 till 2007. He started making mashups after meeting the french bootlegger ComaR and falling in love with his fresh bootleg music style. DJ Y alias JY’s mashup producer career brought him some attention from other bootleggers like DJ Zebra, DJ Moule, Partyben or Loo & Placido and other radio djs who played him on the radio all around the world. He also got huge attention from Moby himself who called one of his productions, a bootleg between Moby and Adele, “better than my original track”. 2011, his bootleg with Madcon and The Police was selected by Adam Sandler himself to be part of the soundtrack of the Sony Pictures movie “Just Go With It”. 2012 he received the chance to mash a track from Lana Del Rey. The result was used as a promo gift for her single “Summertime Sadness”. End of 2012 he was nominated as the "Mashup Artist Of The Year" by Matuschke, the biggest radio show on Radio Bayern 3 (Germany). His bootlegs were also noticed by Kavinsky, -M- (Matthieu Chedid) and Suzanne Vega.
DJ Y alias JY is now established as a resident dj at Munich’s craziest remix-trash-mashup-bootleg party: “Halli Galli Drecksound”.
With his mashup background, DJ Y alias JY has an open mind about all styles of music. He is the perfect man for uplifting sounds and crazy parties. He’s getting booked as a dj by a lot of clubs and companies all over Europe.
